Violet is a postdoc working with Dr.David Wishart at the University of Alberta. She is currently developing a diversity analysis module based on the vegan R package for a web-based platform that aims to provide an easy way of performing community ecology analysis for users new to statistics and computer science. Violet achieved her doctoral degree in forest biology and management from the University of Alberta in Canada, where she studied the resin duct-based anatomical defense of residual lodgepole pine trees and the secondary insect populations and their potential threats to such residual lodgepole pines in post-mountain pine beetle outbreak stands.
