Mike WilsonBioinformatician(previous lab member)

Mike Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science with a Double Major in Computer Science and Biology from the University of Alberta and works as a bioinformatician in the Wishart lab. He has contributed to a number of projects from the Wishart lab, including BacMap: The Bacterial Genome Atlas, The Human Metabolome Database, The E-coli Metabolome Database and nmrML: an XML markup language for NMR data.. Mike's main research interests lie in metabolomics, genomics, and machine learning and their application to personalized medicine and nutrition.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And … the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.
